Suttur, Nov. 9, 2018: A girl from Arehalli gram panchayat limits, near Agumbe in Shivamogga District, who was forced to drop out of school because of her poor family background and her parents physical challenge has found shelter at the JSS Residential School in Suttur with the blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the present pontiff of the Sri Math.
Noticing an article published recently in one of the newspaper, Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji has extended free education and other facilities to the poor girl.
The name of the girl is Chaitra, and she belongs to a Scheduled Caste family, whose both parents are physically challenged. The condition of the family is such that they were staying in a dilapidated house located in a remote area. The small honorarium provided to the physically challenged people by the government is the only income of the family. The elder daughter of the family is a special child. The parents were not even capable of meeting her medical expenses. Somehow they had enrolled their younger daughter to eighth standard at the government high school near Kammaradi village.
Other than her uniform Chaitra didn’t even had a decent dress to wear. Her circumstances had forced her to drop out of school. Her story was published in a newspaper recently which was noticed by Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji who has blessed her.
When Chaitra saw the mighty school building for the first time she was astonished and refused to join. However she was provided counseling and efforts were made by the staff to instill confidence and courage in her.
The Administrative Officer Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Coordinator Sri G. L. Tripurantaka, the Headmaster of the school and other teaching staff have however stepped forward in shaping her future in a good way.
Chaitra, whose life was in darkness has found light by the blessings of the Sri Math.
