Money can’t buy health – Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji

Suttur, April 29, 2019: “Money can’t buy health or youth. But, we can remain healthy even after growing old by healthy thoughts and adopting a disciplined life,” opined Pujya Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji.

A programme was held at the JSS Hiriyara Mane (JSS Elder’s Home), in Suttur to celebrate the 100th birthday of one of the inmates called Sri K.M. Tammaiah. In his talk, he said, “A man loses both health and age due to his greed. Birds and animals are leading a happy and peaceful life by living amidst nature. But, it is very unfortunate that man is getting deprived of the present day happiness by thinking about the past and the future. Paramapujya Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji has provided all the facilities required for senior citizens at the JSS Hiriyara Mane in Suttur, where the inmates can live happily for the rest of their lives.”

In his blessings, Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji said, “usually people neglect their parents during their younger days. However, they want their children to look after them in their older days. But, in turn, when they grow old their children also neglect them. Parents happiness might increase if they control their desires. Thus, it would be clever if you find happiness wherever you are.”

Centenarian Sri K.M. Tammaiah who received the blessings from Pujya Gurus’ recalled his younger days as a politician and shared his experience where he served for the society without expecting anything in return. “I could serve for the cause of the society as I had a bonding with veteran politicians like Sri Nijalingappa, Sri Veerendra Patil and Sri Ramakrishna Hegde,” he said.

Other inmates of JSS Hiriyara Mane Sri Madegowda, Sri Krishnamurthy and Sri K. Venkateshwara shared their opinions about the centenarian. K.M. Tammaiah’s family friend, former Syndicate Member Dr. K. Mahadev also explained about the Centenarian’s selfless service.

Apart from the inmates of the JSS Hiriyara Mane, the inmates of the JSS Oldage Home of Aravindanagar, Mysuru, also were present. Sri Dayanand Patil, S/o Sri K.M. Tammaiah and a few relatives were also present.

Earlier the programme commenced with an invocation by the children from Meghalaya State, who are studying at the JSS Free Residential School, Suttur. Smt. C.P. Nirmala Welcomed, Sri Yogesh gave a vote of thanks and Sri G.L. Tripuranta compered.
