Suttur, August 15, 2018: The 72nd Independence Day celebrations were observed with much excitement at the JSS Institution in Suttur.
Sri A.K. Suresh, Police Officer (Retd.) hoisted the tricolor. “During the pre-independence period, more than 60,000 freedom fighters were arrested by the British. They used to label them as anti-nationals and used to hang them. Thus, thousands of people laid down their lives for our independence,” he said.
“Today, earning money appears to be more important for all, including children. The student fraternity should come out of their ‘mobile phone’ world and look at their surroundings. They can become achievers and bring name and fame to our country,” he added.
Dr. B. Manjunath, Registrar, JSS Medical College, Mysuru, presided over the programme. “Students should dream big. You should have larger goals, and you can achieve it by inculcating honesty and perseverance. Stop thinking negative and quit your attitude. Respect your elders. Stop daydreaming and concentrate towards reaching your goal. Laziness deprives you of opportunities,” he observed.
JSS Institution Head Sri G. L. Tripurantaka, Sri Sampath, Sri Veerabhadraiah, Dr. M.C. Nataraj, Sri C.S. Shivaswamy, Sri G. Shivamallu, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, Sri B.M. Siddappa and Sri G.M. Shadakshari were present on the dais.
The guests received a guard of honour by the school NCC Airforce, Land Army teams, Scouts and Guides and the band teams.
Students presented various cultural programmes. Sumalatha welcomed, Shreya gave a vote of thanks, and Manikeshwari compered.
