Suttur, April 30, 2019: Former Minister and MLA Sri Adaguru H. Vishwanath inaugurated the Alumni and Parents Meet, held at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, BN Road, Mysuru, on April 28, 2019.
Recalling his student days at the college he said, “There were only 100 students when I was studying here. But today more than 3100 students are pursuing their Degrees and PG studies in this college. I feel so proud to say that our College has achieved ‘Autonomous’ status and ‘A’ grade from NAAC, along with several other recognitions. Right from the beginning in this college prominence is given for culture, literature, arts, sports, and other extra-curricular activities apart from regular classes, that builds good leadership qualities among the students. I am an example for this. I pursued my B.Sc. Degree here and I was always active in cultural and literary activities. Our College used to win almost all the prizes in all the competitions. The student association elections taught me about our democratic system and administration. I could develop leadership qualities since my student days itself, which helped me to achieve success in the political sector and serve for the cause of the society. It helped me to become a Minister. But today many students don’t even know under what system we are living in our country. Hence, there is a need to create awareness among the students about our democratic set-up.
In his introductory speech, Prof. B.V. Sambashiavaiah, Chief Executive of the College explained the progress of the college. The alumni and parents shared their experiences and opinions on this occasion.
Earlier Prof. M. Mahadevappa, Principal welcomed the participants. Dr. N. Rajendra Prasad, Assistant Professor gave avote of thanks. Kum. Vidyashri gave an invocation. Prof. D.S. Sadashivamurthy compared. Lecturers, students, and parents were present.
