Gaithersburg, September 17, 2022: “Many Kannadiga families have migrated to USA for jobs. Though they are in a foreign country, their efforts in protecting and spreading our culture and heritage is really appreciable,” observed His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.
He participated in the Satsang program held on September 17, at Chicago, USA, organized by the Vidyaranya Kannada Federation on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee celebrations. After inaugurating the program, in his blessings, His Holiness expressed his view that a small Karnataka could be seen in a faraway land due to the unity and interest to join together and celebrate Kannada and Kannada culture. “Kannada has a history of more than 1500 years. It is one among the ancient languages and one of the largest speaking language of the world. There are several Kannada sanghas in USA. However, the mission of all of these sanghas are the same. Vinobha Bhave had called Kannada script as ‘Rani Lipi’. The journey of Kannada language itself is very special. It is identified that Kannada language developed in three phases, namely, Halegannada (Old Kannada), Nadugannada (Middle age Kannada) and Hosagannada (New age Kannada). Kannada is a sweet language. The fame of enriching our language rightly goes to the Vachanakaras and Sharanas. Kannada is a language of common people. Kannada language helped me in dedicating myself in spirituality and god. Establishment of Kannada Sangha in the name of Vidyaranya, who is considered as the founder and guide of the historic Kannada dynasty Vijayanagara, is really special and commendable. It is indeed a matter of pride to know that it has completed 50 years and celebrating golden jubilee. I wish the Sangha continue to spread the essence of Kannada forever,” he blessed.
Sri Sugunendra Theertha Sripadangalavaru of the Udupi Sriputtige Math, in his blessings said it is very happy to witness the golden jubilee celebration of the Vidyaranaya Kannada Federation, at a place from where one of the great saint of the world Swami Vivekananda propagated Indian culture through his historic speech. The Vidyaranaya Kannada Federation is doing several special works here. Several Kannada sanghas are doing good works that has brought Kannada and Karnataka in to the limelight in this foreign land. In fact we all should be proud to say that great saints like Madhwacharya, Shankaracharya, and Shivasharana Basavanna were born in our State,” he observed.
Renowned playback singer Sri Rajesh Krishnan presented a few songs on the occasion. Federation President Sri Srinivas Bhat, Vice-President Smt. Asha Gurudatt were present.
While Sakhyanka J. rendered an invocation, Sohank J. accompanied on the musical instrument. Smt. Ramyarao mastered the program.
